Hands of Friendship
The students from Gulgong High School created and designed a number of 2D mixed media and 3D sculptures around the theme 'Hands of Friendship'.
Students enjoyed photocopying their hands to incorporate a piece of self as an outward and visual representation of the emotional connection of a cohort coming together in solidarity.
In order to metaphorically link our unified friendships, students designed and made a paper patch quilt from all their hands that intertwine their being.

Gulgong High School – Hands of Friendship
Duration: 2:02What do the students have to say?
'As a class we all worked and helped each other to cast our hands in plaster bandages. We took turns in wrapping wet bandages over either the top or palm of our hands. I love the colour pink, so my background was pink with rainbow dots all over. When finished and mounted on a stand, my hand looked like a well-made artwork I was proud of.' – Isabella (Year 11 student)
'I enjoyed making my hand with plaster bandages as it was different from any other artwork I had done before. I painted blue and yellow dots on my hand before it was put on a stand. It looked great when put together with the rest of the classes as a group of friends.' – Cooper (Year 7 student)
'It was interesting to see what my hand imprint looked like after I took off the hardened plaster bandage. Looking at all the hands of the class together as a group looked awesome.' – Jack (Year 9 student)
