All Our Loves
Students from Carinya School were inspired by their spare time to create their All Our Loves artwork. Identity, drawing, music and gaming are really important to this class.
This artwork expresses and shares a little of what the students in this class love to do in their spare time. Because it is important to the students that everyone in the class has a chance to share, both students and teachers have shared with the class.
All Our Loves – long text description
'All of Our Loves' is a collage comprised of six drawings of different objects, laid out in two rows where each row includes three drawings. In a speech bubble, hovering over each of the six drawings, are the names of the student or teacher who created the drawing.
The first drawing by Steve, located in the top left-hand corner of the collage, depicts an eye with a light blue iris on an orange background, encircled by a black spiral on a yellow background.
The second drawing by Ahsan, located in the top centre of the collage, depicts a blue Play Station 5 console and a red Play Station 5 controller.
The third drawing by Jamie, located in the top right-hand corner of the collage, depicts a grey hand grabbing a grey grenade heart and is drawn over a blue background. This hand and heart drawing is inspired by the same symbol as it appears on a Green Day album cover.
The fourth drawing by Mel, located in the bottom right-hand corner of the collage, depicts a pink and blue starfish. Pink around the edge and light blue in the middle.
The fifth drawing by Nyal, located in the bottom centre of the collage, depicts a person wearing a rainbow-coloured, zip-up hoodie with the hood, in grey, pulled over their head. The hood has two fluffy, white cat ears protruding out of it, and the person's rainbow-coloured hair is peeking out from underneath the grey hood. They wear a thin beaded necklace. There is a small red love heart on the right shoulder of their hoodie and an indistinct grey clothing logo underneath.
The sixth drawing by Connor, located in the bottom right-hand corner of the collage, depicts a gold sword with a red, black and brown wooden handle.
What do the students and teachers have to say?
'My drawings are a part of me and express my identity, and so does the rainbow.' – Kay (student)
'I asked the students to really think about an image that would define them. That, if we looked at that image, we would know it was theirs.' – Mel (teacher)
'It was hard to choose just one image because I like a whole range of music, but the hand symbol of Green Day also stands for power and standing up for yourself and trying.' – Jamie (student)
'They were really happy with the finished product and that everyone's artworks are together.' – Steve (teacher)
