All DoE schools across NSW in term 2 will be participating in an Aboriginal Education focussed Staff Development Day. The DoE has provided clear learning intentions for all participants which include:
Develop an understanding of how to address school and system priorities by using key policies, such as the Aboriginal Education Policy, the Partnership Agreement, Personalised Learning Pathways Guidelines, and Turning policy into Action for school implementation
Develop a deeper understanding of the Aboriginal Education Policy and an individual teachers’ role in implementing it across their school context
Identify strategies for all staff, to embed the Aboriginal Education Policy and all other policies, guidelines and frameworks to school implementation
Examine the process of developing an Aboriginal education action plan aligning with the Aboriginal Education Policy.

Deputy Secretary address via Zoom - Presentation by the Deputy Secretaries outlining the importance of a focused effort on improving outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and increasing knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal histories and culture.
Speaker: Yatu Widders Hunt
Yatu Widders Hunt has proud Dunghutti and Anaiwan (Northern Tablelands, NSW) heritage and has a background in PR and communications. She is the General Manager of Cox Inall Ridgeway, an Indigenous social change agency based in Sydney. She is also the founder of online community @ausindigenousfashion where she works to foster community and celebrate Indigenous fashion design.
Yatu was also Cheltenham Girls School Captain and a graduate of the class of 2000.

Anthony and Ramsay are brothers and proud Wiradjuri people, from a small town on the Murrumbidgee River called Brungle (South West NSW). They come from a long line of snowy mountain people and wood carvers.
The Bush to Bowl team will share with us about the importance of Country and the deep connection that First Nations peoples have with the land. They will take us on a tour around the Country we work on - and the bush foods which it can provide!
