LGBTQ+ social groups and support - MYPAS
What the Service Does: MYPAS’ East Lothian LGBTQ+ Service provides:
Weekly social groups for LGBTQ+ young people and allies in East Lothian (online and in person)
One to one support for LGBTQ+ young people in East Lothian
Online LGBTQ+ Youth Group - A safe, friendly space for young people who identify as LGBTQ+ and allies. Young people from East Lothian can attend chat online and meet new friends, take part in activities, get support and have fun. The weekly online (Zoom) groups run on Mondays from 5 – 6pm.
In person LGBTQ+ Youth Group – MYPAS also runs weekly in person social groups that alternate between the Fraser Centre (Tranent) and Tolbooth Hall (Dalkeith). These are held on Monday evenings after the online groups.
One to One Support for LGBTQ+ Young People - MYPAS provides one to one support for LGBTQ+ young people who live in East Lothian. Issues discussed often include:
sexuality and/or gender identity
coming out to friends and family or at school
mental health
relationships with friends and family
Age Range: 12 to 21 years
How to Access: For the online and in person groups, MYPAS asks that young people contact them before attending for the first time.
Young people can access LGBT+ support from MYPAS through:
self-referral
a worker, supportive adult or family member referring for support
the young person asking a teacher, youth worker or supportive adult to arrange for MYPAS to meet them in their school or youth centre so we can tell them more about the service
