BSSS requires you to attend at least 90% of classes unless you have a reasonable explanation.
Illness being one of the most common reasons for absence, you must provide appropriate documentation with a note from a parent or carer which is written or attached to a absence form. These forms can be obtained from the student services office.
Additional evidence (doctor's certificate) is required if a student is absent on the day of an assessment task, if you are absent for 3 or more consecutive days or are regular absent from class may require additional evidence. You may be eligible for special provision if you suffer from long-term illness or hardship.
To explain an absence you need appropriate documentation. Appropriate documentation can come in a paper form (see Student Services), parents' email (work) or a text reply (least efficient for multiple classes). If you know you’ll be away, the notice recommended to be given is 1 week before the absence. In unforeseen circumstances, notices need to be given within 5 days of absence to avoid stacking of multiple absences.
Failing to explain multiple absences of a class in a reasonable amount of time can result in a V-grade (failing the unit) for insufficient attendance.
Weekly attendance is given on your school email. To make sure you pass all your classes with good (>90%) attendance, we recommend checking your email attendance every Monday (see annotated example below).
Paper form is one way to give evidence for your absences, the video above tells you in detail what you should be. Be aware that you can do a whole week of absences including different lines on the same piece of paper (shading each .
Your parents can choose to give Student Services an email (work preferred) as documentation for your absence. In this form parents can choose to give a list of dates that you were or will be away.
Parents usually receive texts when you're away, they can choose to reply to them with the reason for your absence.* This is the least efficient method as they need to reply to each individual class you were away for in say, a monday. Or they can choose to do a form or email.

These special conditions may include alternative assessments, sitting assessments at different times or in different places to other students, extra time allowed for assessment items or the use of a reader and/ or scribe to assist in the completion of assessment items.
