Visual Arts at Lake G

Visual Arts students explore a range of traditional and digital artmaking techniques in 2D and 3D mediums. Painting, drawing, ceramics…

We have had lots of success with students doing well displaying their work in exhibitions and entering (and winning) competitions.

A highlight of our calendar has been the Art Camp with Visual Arts and Photography students, but can be open to other students. We usually run this in term 2 as a four day retreat in a beautiful location that inspires creativity.

Performing Arts Community Events & Opportunities

At UC SSC Lake Ginninderra, there is a strong performing arts community which manifests itself in many ways across the school year. Most of these opportunities are available to all students, regardless of their enrollment in academic units.

Contact Lane Moore (Lane.Moore@ed.act.edu.au) in Music, or Dale Thain (Dale.Thain@ed.act.edu.au) in Drama to gain more specific details of each of these events and how you can get involved. The more the merrier!

Term 1

Lake Idol – an outdoor festival of music and performances

The Musical – auditions and interviews for this R-based unit held on C line commence.

Term 2

Act Up! – A festival of school performances hosted by the Canberra Theatre Centre

Term 3

The Musical Performance – an R-based unit available for actors, dancers, musicians and technical designers and operators. This is held on Line C.

Jazz Supper Club – an IMP event featuring our students

Dancefest - AusDANCE Youth Dance Festival – a festival of school dance performances hosted by AUSDANCE ACT

Term 4

Come Alive! – A festival of Museum Theatre

Arts Tech Showcase – This is our chance to showcase our talents to our own community

Drama Production – an R-based unit available for actors, and technical designers and operators. This is held on Line C.
