This introductory watercolour tutorial will introduce students to a technique often deployed in botanical compositions, sometimes referred to as the Tea Wash Method. We will be sketching an assortment of locally sourced Eucalyptus leaves and, following these tracings we will use our brushes to direct the flow of colours, tapping puddles of colour into the outlines on the paper to build depth and tone, with the measured pacing that this medium exacts for. Final touches of detail will be added on after each undertone has dried to achieve a striking effect seen in some of the most provocative and compelling botanical compositions. All are welcome — hope to see you there!
