Nurturing Creativity

Teacher as Artist, Artist as Teacher

Jump-start your school year at the Arts Up Front Conference

Saturday 2 March 2019

9am - 3.30pm

ANU School of Music and School of Art

The Instrumental Music Program is proud to present the eighth Arts Up Front Conference, welcoming arts educators, generalist primary and early childhood teachers from the ACT and regional NSW for a day of inspiration, information & Arts practice.

The arts are vital in the cognitive and creative development of young people. This conference values teachers both for their role in this process, and as arts practitioners themselves, by providing quality professional learning opportunities and a forum where teachers from all levels of schooling can come together to listen, create, share and network with colleagues.

The day begins with an address by Dr Anita Collins. Dr Collins is an award-winning educator, researcher and writer in the field of brain development and music learning. She is internationally recognized for her unique work in translating the scientific research of neuroscientists and psychologists to the everyday parent, teacher and student. In 2018 Anita was featured as the onscreen expert for the highly acclaimed three-part ABC documentary Don’t Stop the Music.

We will follow this inspiring talk with three workshop sessions with artists, educators and industry professionals - designed to inspire, inform and invigorate your practice.

A day for Arts Learning, Arts Making and Arts Fun.
