This workshop, based on ORFF and Kodaly approaches to music education, offers singing games, instrumental activities, dance and movement ideas for classroom teachers (K-6) as well as specialist Primary music teachers.

About Katharine

Katharine Finlayson has been a Primary School Music Specialist teacher for 30 years. Katharine is currently employed as the Executive Teacher, Professional Practice for Music and the Arts in ACT Directorate schools where she works as a coach and mentor to specialist and non-specialist Primary music teachers. Katharine is the President of the ACT branch of the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia. She holds the Australian Kodaly Certificate as well as an Excellence in Teaching award from ASME. Katharine is based at the ACT Instrumental Music Program and conducts the ACT Primary Concert Choir and the ACT Senior Concert Choir.

About Susan

Susan Curbishley is regarded as an inspirational and talented music teacher whose love and passion for music is infectious. Susan's belief that music is for everyone regardless of age, ability and experience, and her determination to expose all children to music education has ensured that singing and music are a part of every day at school. Susan’s philosophy is to empower all students and teachers to consider themselves as being musical has been a major influence in her work with schools and their teachers. Her school practices and in-servicing of teachers have ensured that she is recognised as a leading music practitioner in the region.
