ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

STUDENTS WILL WORK 106.2-155 HOURS AND EARN AND HOURLY WAGE OR A STIPEND

EVALUATIONS

A CERTIFIED TEACHER WILL CONDUCT JOB SITE OBSERVATIONS THROUGHOUT THE EXPERIENCE

STEP 1: APPLY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A JOB OR IF YOU NEED A JOB

STEP 2: IF ACCEPTED YOU WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT SCHEDULING AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION THAT MUST BE SUBMITTED.  STUDENTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES TO BE ACCEPTED: 

  • Priority Placement for rising seniors 25-26

  • EBR School Enrollee

  • Fall/Spring: Student must have transportation (Summer Internship has a transportation provided option)

  • Students must have 11th or 12th grade status. 

  • Students will apply through a portal and be placed in classes based on job-status, business partnership availability, and Industry Based Credential obtainments. 

  • Have a valid Social Security Card 

  • Have a valid State Issued ID 

  • Must be able to complete an application of employment  

  • Be on track for graduation  

  • Must have a good attendance record 

  • Must have a good discipline record 

  • Must ensure that extracurricular activities do not interfere with your internship schedule 

  • Be willing to submit to a background check and fingerprinting performed by the Louisiana State Police if required by company

  • Be willing to submit to a drug screen if required by company

  • Students will be enrolled in the appropriate internship course code at their home-school site and during summer school. 

  • Have transportation* to and from work during the academic school year internship program. 

STEP 3: ATTEND PARENT/STUDENT ORIENTATION AND TURN IN ALL REQUIRED FORMS

STEP 4: COMPLETE 27 HOURS OF DEFINED LEARNING LESSONS 

  • SUMMER: DURING BOOTCAMP

  • FALL/SPRING: DURING SCHEDULED INTERNSHIP COURSE

  • CHECK GOOGLE CLASSROOM

STEP 5: MEET WITH YOUR WORKSITE MENTOR AND TEACHER

STEP 6: FOLLOW YOUR WORK SCHEDULE AND ENSURE YOU: 

  • CHECK IN DAILY WITH YOUR TEACHER

  • FILL OUT YOUR TIME SHEET AND TURN IN WEEKLY (OR A COPY OF YOUR PAY STUB)

  • "LEARN AND EARN"


*Transportation will be provided if needed during the summer internship program through our "Grow Our Own" initiative.

Fall/Spring Internship Forms (Stipend Paid Interns)

Preparation:

Each intern has an internship teacher at their school site who has been preparing our interns to report to work since the beginning of the school year, as well as, a District Lead Internship teacher who will be responsible for conducting observations throughout the school year. A member from our team will check in with you to answer any additional questions you may have.

School Year Schedule Overview:

During the school year session, interns are generally scheduled to work Monday–Friday, 1:30 PM–4:30 PM on A or B days; and, are scheduled to report to their job sites beginning September 8th or September 9th. The start date is based on the student’s schedule. See a sample schedule and calendar.

        

A student with Sample Schedule A would begin Monday, September 8th because the Internship Course is scheduled for B Days at 8th Block. A student with Sample Schedule B would begin Tuesday, September 9th because the Internship Course is scheduled for A Days at 4th Block.

Note: You’ll notice the Juneteenth Holiday and week of July 4th are not scheduled days for our student interns. However, students may work Monday – Wednesday during the week of July 4th. The week of July 21 – 24, 2025 may not be a full work week. It is designated as an opportunity for students to attain any remaining hours needed to satisfy the 155 hours. This can vary based on attendance throughout the program.

Classroom instruction shall include career navigation, financial literacy, and workplace behavioral competencies including communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving should be aligned to the following 8 modules:
