WFD OVERVIEW:
The Workforce Development Department consists of Career and Technical Education, Work-Based Learned Programs (Internship), the Career and Technical Education Center, and JROTC programs across the district.
The EBRPSS Office of Workforce Development supports the Career and Technical Education Department, the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC), and JROTC, collectively focusing on equipping students with practical skills, industry-based credentials, and leadership abilities through internships and work-based learning. These programs ensure students are prepared for high-demand careers, higher education, and personal growth while aligning with the Capital Region's workforce needs and providing equitable access to LDOE College & Career Pathways. The Office of Workforce Development partners with BRAC and GBRIA to establish strong connections and provide seamless support for graduation pathways. This includes helping students earn industry-based credentials and gain work-based learning experiences that align with the demands of high-wage sectors.

CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) - WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
The East Baton Rouge Parish Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs aim to equip students with essential skills, knowledge, and experiences for various careers and technical fields. These programs support LDOE College & Career Pathways at each high school within the district and internship experience in partnership with community businesses.
CTE Focus:
Skill Development: Hands-on training aligned with LDOE career pathways such as Agriculture, Business Management, Health Sciences, and more.

EBR LEARN AND EARN WORK-BASED LEARNING INTERNSHIPS
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Workforce Development Program prepares students for careers through hands-on experiences that complement their academics. The internship program, the final phase of this initiative, allows students to gain real-world experience, develop professional skills, and explore career interests. Partnering with local businesses and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, the program aligns with Louisiana Career Pathways.
Students can participate in either a full school year or summer session, completing 27 hours of classroom instruction and 106.2-155 hours of on-the-job training (dependent on hourly or stipend program). Successful completion earns them course credit or a Carnegie Unit. Businesses benefit from the program by fostering innovation, building a talent pipeline, and enhancing productivity.

JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICERS' TRAINING CORPS (JROTC) - WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
JROTC programs at EBRPSS high schools focus on developing leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility through military-style training. This program offers students valuable hands-on experience in STEM-related fields, including robotics assembly and coding, drone pilot certification training, archery, and cybersecurity certification.
