🇺🇸 Liberty JROTC Patriot Battalion Earns Honor Unit with Distinction!
Congratulations to the Liberty Magnet High School JROTC Patriot Battalion for successfully completing their JROTC Program of Accreditation (JPA) inspection and maintaining their status as an Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) — earning an incredible 99.50 out of 100 points!
The JPA is a rigorous evaluation conducted by U.S. Army Cadet Command that assesses leadership, organization, service learning, cadet portfolios, drill and ceremony, and the overall strength of a JROTC program.
This outstanding achievement reflects the hard work, discipline, and leadership of our cadets, along with the guidance of their instructors and the support of Liberty’s faculty, administration, and families who encourage these students to lead and serve.
We are incredibly proud of the Patriot Battalion for representing Liberty with excellence. ❤️🤍💙
🚨 Liberty Testing Blitz Begins!
For the next four weeks, Liberty is launching a campus-wide Testing Blitz to help our Patriots reach their full potential on upcoming assessments.
This focused push is all about targeted intervention and enrichment. Students are working in small groups to strengthen key skills, build confidence, and prepare to perform at their best. Whether it’s reviewing essential concepts or pushing for advanced mastery, every student is receiving support tailored to their individual needs.
What makes this effort special is that it’s truly all hands on deck. Classroom teachers, support staff, and Liberty administrators are all leading groups and working directly with students. The entire campus is jumping in to support our learners and keep the momentum going.
At Liberty, we believe in growing our Patriots—helping each student set goals, build their skills, and achieve success. Over the next month, our halls are going to be full of focus, collaboration, and Patriot pride as we work together to help every student reach their personal best.
Let’s go, Patriots! ❤️🤍💙📚

🌟 Last Week’s Shining Star (A Little Late, But Well Deserved!): Coach Carter
Last week, we had the honor of recognizing Coach Dorien Carter as our Shining Star — and we want to make sure she receives the spotlight she deserves!
As an Algebra teacher, Coach Carter is committed to helping her students grow in both skill and confidence. She creates a supportive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to persevere, ask questions, and take pride in their progress. Her patience, consistency, and encouragement help students develop not only stronger math skills, but also greater confidence in themselves.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Coach Carter serves as an assistant basketball coach, where she continues to mentor and support students beyond the academic setting. She is known throughout our campus for being genuine, approachable, and deeply invested in her students’ success. Students know they can count on her for encouragement and guidance, and her positive influence makes a lasting impact on our school community.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Carter on this well-deserved recognition!
🌟Shining Star of the Week - Dr. Crystal Birdsong!
Dr. Birdsong does far more than teach Choir — she builds confidence, cultivates excellence, and creates a positive environment where students feel supported and challenged to grow. Her classroom is grounded in high expectations and encouragement, empowering students to truly find and strengthen their voices.
She also ensures Liberty’s talent is showcased beyond our campus. Under her leadership, students proudly represent Liberty in district-wide events such as the EBRPSS Mass Gospel Choir and the District-Wide Black History Showcase — celebrating culture, history, and excellence while connecting with the broader community.
Beyond the choir room, Dr. Birdsong consistently steps in wherever she is needed. Her dedication, kindness, and leadership leave a lasting impact on our students and staff each day.
Thank you, Dr. Birdsong, for the heart and excellence you bring to Liberty! ❤️🤍💙
🇺🇸📚 Back-to-back National History Day winners!
Congratulations to juniors Jeiry Moran and London Schexnydre for an incredible achievement! For the second year in a row, they have earned 1st Place at the National History Day Baton Rouge Regional Competition in the Senior Group Documentary category!
Their award-winning documentary, “MKUltra: Fear, Secrecy and Reform in Cold War America,” examines the CIA’s Project MKUltra and explores the lasting lessons from a secretive government program that violated citizens’ rights. Their thoughtful research and powerful storytelling highlight the importance of accountability, reform, and protecting civil liberties.
Jeiry and London will now advance to the State Competition at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans on April 11, 2026.

🚨 Dress Code & Cellphone/Electronics/Headphone Policies 🚨
Patriots, we need your help! Dress code and cellphone use have become major concerns, and it’s important that we all work together to keep our campus safe, respectful, and focused.
Please take a moment to review the policies on page 14 of the Student Handbook (linked above). These guidelines are essential, especially when it comes to footwear, which is a significant safety issue.
Acceptable Footwear Includes:
Tennis Shoes / Sneakers
Dress Shoes
Boots
Any covered shoes
Liberty continues to offer one of the most flexible free-dress codes in the city, but that only works when everyone follows the expectations in place.
Cellphones, Electronics, and Headphones
We also need your support in ensuring students follow the rules regarding device usage. These policies help minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment for everyone.
Your cooperation makes a real difference. Thank you for supporting our school community and helping keep Liberty safe and focused!
2025 - 2026 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook
Updated Organizational Chart and Contact List
Please review the two charts provided. They outline who to contact based on specific situations, helping us address concerns more efficiently and effectively.
Following this communication flow will ensure quicker resolutions and help everyone stay informed.
A tardy is recorded any time a student is not in class by its official start time (at the start of school and during regular class changes). Late arrivals to school by student drivers or carpool do count into a student's tardy record. Student tardies accumulate throughout the full semester and consequences begin after the 3rd tardy.
Carpool starts at 6:40! Parents are not allowed to drop off before this. Wait for Mr. Shoff to start releasing for Carpool. Also, parents are not allowed to go down the lane that is reserved for student parking as indicated by the green arrows. That lane is reserved for students so they can drive into the student parking lot to park. Also, going up Pickett to try to get into the parking lot is NOT allowed at any time.
At the end of the school day during carpool, we've noticed some parents parking on the grass along LEE Drive and having their children walk to their cars. This practice is not only against school policy but also poses significant safety risks. For the safety of all students and to ensure smooth traffic flow, please refrain from parking on the grass and use the designated carpool lanes. Your cooperation is crucial in keeping our school environment safe for everyone.
Check-in/Check Out Policy Reminders
Parents cannot email or call the office after dropping the student off late to school
Students will wait in TOR until a parent comes to sign them in.
Student drivers who arrive late may have a parent email the office. Student driver must have an approved parking contract on file.
Student drivers will have driving privileges suspended upon their 3rd late arrival in the semester.
