Welcome back, Patriots!
We hope you had a great holiday break and took time to relax and recharge. Now it’s time to start the second semester strong and get back into the routine of learning, growing, and reaching your goals.
This semester brings new opportunities to challenge yourself, stay focused, and show your best effort every day. Remember, every class, every assignment, and every decision matters. Let’s support one another, stay motivated, and make this semester even better than the last.

1st Semester Report Cards with final grades will be sent home with students on Friday, January 9. The semester GPA will be able to be found under the S1 (Semester 1) grading column and will reflect the GPA for this semester (not the cumulative GPA).

To ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment, please note the following are not permitted on campus:

Students bring devices at their own risk. The school and district are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged devices (including those confiscated).
Our policy complies with Louisiana Act No. 313 and R.S. 17:239, which require electronic devices to be off and stowed away during the instructional day, unless there's a public safety emergency.
Important Home Basketball Game Day Policy:
Seating Restrictions:
All fans must remain seated in the bleachers for the entire game.
Standing in aisles or walkways is not permitted.
Baseline Restrictions:
No spectators may stand along the baseline at any time during the games.
Seating Arrangement:
The first row of bleachers on the side opposite the team benches will be closed.
All spectators must sit starting in the second row to ensure the safety of our student-athletes.
No Blankets are allowed on campus!
Afternoon Car Riders:
All afternoon car riders must be picked up no later than 3:00 PM. Students who are consistently picked up after 3:00 PM may be assigned to ride the bus!
Parents and guardians must go through the entire Car Rider line during pickup and drop-off.
Do NOT turn around at the back of the line or exit through the same area where others are entering.
For the safety of all students, staff, and families, everyone is required to follow the full car pool route.

Patriots, we need your help! Dress code and cellphone use have become major concerns, and it’s important that we all work together to keep our campus safe, respectful, and focused.
Please take a moment to review the policies on page 14 of the Student Handbook (linked above). These guidelines are essential, especially when it comes to footwear, which is a significant safety issue.
Acceptable Footwear Includes:
Tennis Shoes / Sneakers
Dress Shoes
Boots
Any covered shoes
Liberty continues to offer one of the most flexible free-dress codes in the city, but that only works when everyone follows the expectations in place.
Cellphones, Electronics, and Headphones
We also need your support in ensuring students follow the rules regarding device usage. These policies help minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment for everyone.

Prom is quickly approaching! This year’s prom will be held at the stunning Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel, and it’s sure to be an unforgettable night. Ticket prices are listed above, so be sure to plan ahead. Get ready for an amazing evening filled with fun, memories, and elegance!
Final Exam Exemption Policy
Final Exam Exemption Policy
This is a reminder that students may become eligible for Final Exam Exemptions during the Spring Semester. Students who earn an exemption are excused from attending on exam days, and the only way a student may earn an exemption is through the schoolwide exemption policy. Juniors and seniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 17, while freshmen and sophomores will take the PreACT on Wednesday, March 18. WorkKeys testing will be offered on January 23, February 27, and April 1, and participating in WorkKeys testing is also a great way for students to work toward earning an exam exemption.

🌟 Shining Star of the Week: Mrs. Marites Tapalla
This week, we are proud to recognize Mrs. Marites Tapalla, our Engineering teacher, as Liberty’s Shining Star of the Week. Mrs. Tapalla manages three different preps while consistently delivering engaging, project-based learning experiences in each course. Her dedication extends beyond the school day, as she regularly tutors students after school to support their growth and success.
Recently, her engineering design students completed an impressive 3-D modeling project, demonstrating both technical skill and creative problem-solving. Another class wrapped up a comprehensive business plan assignment, already inspiring a new wave of budding entrepreneurs and future vendors for the next Liberty Wall Street event.
Mrs. Tapalla exemplifies the care, commitment, and technical expertise that define exceptional teaching. Her ability to connect real-world applications to classroom learning creates meaningful, memorable experiences for her students and reflects the very best of Liberty’s STEM mission.

Math Tutoring
We’re excited to offer additional support for our students! Our math teachers are available to stay after school from 2:30 to 3:30 every Tuesday and Thursday. They will assist with all math courses. If students need extra time beyond these hours, we will work with them to ensure they get the help they need.

A tardy is recorded any time a student is not in class by its official start time (at the start of school and during regular class changes). Late arrivals to school by student drivers or carpool do count into a student's tardy record. Student tardies accumulate throughout the full semester and consequences begin after the 3rd tardy.

Carpool starts at 6:40! Parents are not allowed to drop off before this. Wait for Mr. Shoff to start releasing for Carpool. Also, parents are not allowed to go down the lane that is reserved for student parking as indicated by the green arrows. That lane is reserved for students so they can drive into the student parking lot to park. Also, going up Pickett to try to get into the parking lot is NOT allowed at any time.

At the end of the school day during carpool, we've noticed some parents parking on the grass along LEE Drive and having their children walk to their cars. This practice is not only against school policy but also poses significant safety risks. For the safety of all students and to ensure smooth traffic flow, please refrain from parking on the grass and use the designated carpool lanes. Your cooperation is crucial in keeping our school environment safe for everyone.
Check-in/Check Out Policy Reminders
Parents cannot email or call the office after dropping the student off late to school
Students will wait in TOR until a parent comes to sign them in.
Student drivers who arrive late may have a parent email the office. Student driver must have an approved parking contract on file.
Student drivers will have driving privileges suspended upon their 3rd late arrival in the semester.
