Generative AI is an advanced subset of artificial intelligence that is capable of generating new content from learning data and pattern recognition across various mediums such as text, code, images, audio, and video data.

The purpose of this video was to educate students on the proper use of artificial intelligence in the classroom. It gives students a background on what it is, how it works, some real world examples, and some limitations of the technology. In addition, it will give an overview of the current tools available to students.

In the fall of 2026, East Penn adopted the traffic light model for student use of Generative Artificial Intelligence. The goal of this model was transparent communication from the teacher to the students on if and how they were allowed to utilize this tool on any given assignment.
These guidelines are posted in classrooms and communicated on individual assignments in our secondary schools to ensure that all students are informed on the acceptable use of AI.
