Library

The Emmaus High School Library is open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, when the building is open to students. This is subject to change based on student need and staffing.

Library General Information

Students are required to use their student ID cards to check out items from the Library, even during the summer months. The patron check-out limit is five items at once. Students are welcome to consume beverages if their drink containers have secure lids; eating/food is not permitted.

The majority of EHS Library items circulate for three weeks and carry a 5-cent/school day fine if returned late. Reserve books, which are being used by one or more classes for projects, are generally circulated for shorter periods of time (either overnight or for one week, depending upon need) and may carry a higher fine if returned late. Reference books do not circulate, and patrons are encouraged to make photocopies or to take photos of pages they need from these books if time does not permit for them to finish their work in-house.

Patrons who have lost library items have 60 Destiny catalog days during which to replace them in kind rather than in cash/check form, if desired.  After 60 days, the library will only accept monetary reimbursement for lost items (update to the EPSD Board Policy – summer 2018). All library debts must be resolved prior to graduation.

If there are fewer than two classes scheduled in the library during any block, study hall students are allowed to visit with a pass (an approved hand-signed yellow pass only) from their study hall teacher. There are predetermined limits on the number of passes per study hall, and students may only visit the library from a study hall once per day. A student may also visit the library with a pass specifically obtained from his subject teacher in order to do work in the library for that class during a study hall or during Hornet Homeroom. Students with outstanding fines may be temporarily denied access to the library during their study halls. ALL students are welcome between 7 AM and block 1 as well as after school.

Although students possess school-issued devices, there may be occasions where students need to use the library computers or printers. Computer use is free, but there may be printing fees: black-and-white copies beyond 10 sheets per document cost 10 cents each, and all colored copies are 20 cents each. Computer use is subject to the District Acceptable Use Policy, and inappropriate use of the library computers/Internet will result in disciplinary action and/or loss of privileges.

The library is the perfect place for educational research, casual reading, quiet socializing and makerspace fun (enjoying puzzles, adult coloring, gaming, crafting, and other hands-on activities. We can be a spot for school support, friendly competition and/or just a relaxing break in the day…all in one stop! The EHS Library staff members look forward to seeing and helping all patrons in any way we can!
