Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between tardy and being absent?

Prior to 11:00 a.m., students arriving late are considered present, but tardy for the first half of the school day. Students arriving after 11:00 a.m. is considered a full day of absence. EHS Excuse Blanks, parental notes, or physician's notes for tardiness will be accepted and honored at the time of the student's arrival to school.

If my child misses school because of a school trip, do I need to call in and/or send an excuse blank upon their return?

No. The Main Office and each Assistant Principal's Office receives a list of all the participants in school sponsored events, and they are excused in our attendance system.

What happens if the bus is late?

An announcement is made to all the first block teachers who will allow students arriving to school on late buses to enter class without being marked late.

We received a truancy letter. What do we do? Who do we contact?

You will have received a truancy letter if your child has had five or more unexcused absences. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact your child's Assistant Principal's office.
