The Joy of Giving event organized by our school was a heartwarming initiative that aimed to bridge the gap in education and spread happiness to underprivileged children. The entirety of the idea of this event saw the majority of the students of the IBDP engaging with the significant global issue of the illiteracy of children, especially within India. The IBDP Year 1 students eagerly participated in this noble endeavor, visiting another school where children required additional educational support. The day was filled with interactive activities like dance, music, chess, and art & craft, designed to make learning fun and foster a sense of camaraderie. The primary objective of the Joy of Giving event was to create an enriching experience for the Grade 4 students, who faced challenges in their educational journey. Our goal was to share knowledge, inspire a love for learning, and, most importantly, bring smiles to the faces of these young learners.
To ensure maximum impact, the IBDP Year 1 students were divided into groups, each responsible for conducting different activities, and the students were seated according to their preference of activity. In the dance workshop, the children were taught a short choreography which they danced their hearts out to. The music workshop consisted of the kids jamming out to their favorite songs. Students played chess against their classmates as well as with the IB students and impressed the seniors with their skills. They unloaded their creativity on a piece of paper in the art and craft workshop. This not only facilitated effective engagement but also provided a diverse range of experiences for the Grade 4 students. The spirit of empathy and community service blossomed as friendships were forged through shared activities. Witnessing the enthusiasm and joy on the faces of the Grade 4 students served as a powerful reminder of the impact small gestures can have on the lives of others.
The Joy of Giving event was not just an activity; it was a day filled with compassion, learning, and the joy of making a positive difference. It reinforced the importance of education, kindness, and community engagement. As IBDP students, we left the event with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that our efforts had contributed to creating a brighter and happier future for the children. The Joy of Giving will remain etched in our memories as a testament to the transformative power of education and the joy that comes from sharing knowledge and spreading love
Testimony
“This taught me I am blessed not only because of the vacations I can go on and the things I can afford to buy- I am blessed because I have a roof over my head, a family who loves me and food I can eat everyday”
