As part of our first-ever CAS activity, the students of our class participated in a 15-day fitness challenge, where we indulged in a regular physical activity, documenting our process along the way. Each participant committed to incorporating daily exercise routines into their lives, ranging from brisk walks and jogging to playing a sport and strength and gym sessions. Each day presented an opportunity to push our boundaries and to learn to love being active. We were asked to make a minute-long video where we talked about our process and progress through the 15-day challenge. As we progressed through the challenge, we made it a point to reflect on our experiences, and through photos and videos, we captured ourselves engaging in the exercise. These reflections were useful for self-awareness and growth, allowing us to better understand ourselves and our strengths.
The 15-day fitness challenge had a profound impact on both our physical and mental well-being. Many of us found ourselves feeling more energized, focused, and resilient as we embraced regular exercise routines. The endorphin rush from physical activity helped alleviate stress and anxiety, particularly during the demanding academic schedule of the IB program. Participating in this challenge was a very rewarding experience for us all. We learned the importance of consistency and perseverance in achieving our fitness goals, wherein, we surpassed our own limitations, gaining a newfound appreciation for our bodies' capabilities. Through regular exercise, each of us experienced a noticeable improvement in our well-being. This challenge acted as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing self-care and health, and it truly was a transformative experience that nourished our body and mind. Throughout the 15-day fitness challenge, several key IB learning outcomes were addressed. We developed new skills by exploring various forms of physical activity, from brisk walking to gym workouts, and documented our progress through videos and reflections. Additionally, we recognized the importance of consistency and teamwork as we supported each other through this collective effort.
Testimony
“It was such an incredible journey. The physical activity I chose to do was walking. I walked for an hour each day. It made me more aware and conscious of my physical health. After completing this challenge, I realized that I will continue to set goals to achieve regarding my health.”
