Welcome to our weekly bulletin,
Thank you to all Parents and Carers who have followed our request to move their parking places away from the school gates. Our new system is working well and the students have been fantastic in following the new routine. We have kept the post from last week below for any parent/carer who is unsure where to park. Year 11 exams have continued and Year 8 Big Tests are well underway too. We have also been very busy...
A reminder from last week: only cars with a car parking permit (issued by reception) will be allowed to enter the school car park.
The gates to the car park will be closed to all vehicles with the exception of school buses and taxis at the start and end of the school day.
School buses and taxis will enter the site in a staggered formation, so no parent or carer should park on the road outside of school. It is vital that parents and carers follow these instructions for the safety of all students who are walking in and out of the site. Please see the map below for further clarification.
Year 10 now getting ready to complete their end of year exams which will be under full examination conditions and invigilation. This is to ensure that they are fully prepared for the final ones next year.
All students have been given their revision timetable and should revise as directed by their class teachers.
It is vital that students revise independently at home throughout Year 10 so they commit as much knowledge to log term memory as possible. This is in additional to their set homework.
Year 8 are now well under way with their finance challenge and rumour has it that Mr Robinson's class are aiming to make enough money to buy a BMW.
The race is on to be the first millionaire tutor group so please discuss this with your child and help them with their ideas.
They will be working on the project every Friday morning until the end of term.
Huge congratulations to Linda! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Linda in Year 11 has been selected to present her AI business idea at the House of Lords!
Linda will be showcasing her innovative approach to boosting sales for popular fashion brands. We can not wait! Many of you will remember that Linda and Josh were our school winners of the Business Innovation Game, both students impressed us all with their concepts for personalised shopping experiences. A massive thank you Generating genius, in helping our students reach their ambitious goals.
As we were off last week, our assembly and BIG Question time has focused on Pride month this week.
Students have discussed equality, diversity, acceptance and celebrated what makes us human.
They have also learnt about the challenges and discrimination people have fought against.
Dr Atwal, our resident STEM superstar has organised yet another amazing experience for students this week in the form of a visit to Newcastle University.
Please encourage your child to sign up and take part. Places are first come, first served.
We are passionate about making a difference in our community and so we will be attending PACT meetings in local villages each term.
Ushaw Moor PACT meeting was held last week and is open to all members of the community. It was brought to our attention that there are a number of young people in the area who have been seen using E-Bikes and Scooters which are illegal and dangerous. They young people are not necessarily from our school but we have raised awareness with our students and reminded them to be good citizens.
We please urge you to do the same and make sure that they are not causing any issues in the local community.
Our photography competition has come to an end and we are delighted to say that Briar in Year 8 is the very worthy winner for 300 achievement points for her beautiful photo of bluebells in the woods.
Well done Briar!
