Welcome to our weekly bulletin,
We've had much to celebrate this week. Our students have shown confidence, ambition and respect and we have been very busy...
Full details of the Public Consultation can be seen below along with the invitation to visit the site on Tuesday 4th February between 3pm and 7pm.
We strongly urge you to take up this offer as full plans will be displayed and you will have the opportunity to ask and have questions answered before the deadline for comments on Thursday 6th of February.
Full details on how to comment if you are unable to attend in person can be found below and by selecting to expand the image.
We have previously shared our passion for good school food, the need to reduce consumption of energy drinks before school and the items of high fat and sugar items that are banned from site and we want to show you what is on offer in the Café.
Our amazing Café team make freshly prepared nutritious food every day of the week and we are quite spoilt for choice.
From the full roast lunch and toad-in-a-hole to pasta bakes and 'parmos', our students have a wide selection of meat, vegetarian, vegan and halal options everyday. We want every child to make healthy choices and eat a balance diet because we are all aware of the link between good eating and good learning and health. Please encourage your child to buy the lunch meal deal as it is the best value and includes a main course and dessert/fruit.
Please be aware that we do not allow students to purchase cakes and treats without a balanced main meal and they must show they have a packed lunch if they wish to buy these as single items.
The School Council will be discussing school food on Monday so if there's something your child loves to eat and it isn't currently on offer, please make sure they have their say.
Students in Year 9 have completed a crime scene investigation task today and not only did they develop science, teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills but they also had an insight into life as a CSI. Students thoroughly enjoyed analysing blood, testing DNA and examining evidence and were a credit to the school.
Deborah in Year 9 said, " I enjoyed every bit of this event, especially the trickiest part.
Summer in Year 9 said, "I'd feel privileged to do this again."
Aaron in Year 9 said, " This has made us work better as a team and we have learnt to put our ideas together through communication."
Special congratulations must go to April and Evan who had the top number of points and the winning team members: Isla, Lily, Lily, Poppy and Sarah who smashed a Generating Genius record, coming 2nd in the whole country!
Thank you to Dr Atwal for organising this and Thinkers Education for delivering it.
We have been made aware of an amazing and free opportunity for students in Year 9,10 and 11.
Please encourage your child to sign up and make a film instead of watching them on a Saturday.
This is a great chance to develop filming and social skills. More details can be found by following the QR code.
The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust encourages remembrance in a world scarred by prejudice and systematic, targeted persecution. They promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day - the international day on 27 January.
The Holocaust is central to Holocaust Memorial Day and this week we have spent tutor time and assembly considering the importance of being aware of persecution and prejudice and never forgetting the lives that have been taken.
Students have shown great maturity in discussions and as the generation who will shape our world for them better, learnt the importance in standing up for equality and tackling prejudice in all forms.
There were 12 students nominated for work of the week this week! Nominations included marvellous maths, some fantastic history work and several pieces of Art.
Freya in year 10 shared this amazing selection of Art research, experimentation and analysis and it is not surprising that she has received top marks.
Well done everyone.
Week after week we remind students of the importance of good attendance. This is a legal requirement and from Monday, any student who has attendance concerns will have an attendance tracking report in addition to our usual letters and referrals. Parents/Carers will receive a detailed letter about this so please ensure you have notifications turned for school comms.
