PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional exam intended for academically-advanced Juniors who want to try to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Who should take the PSAT/NMSQT? : Academically-advanced Juniors, typically taking Honors and AP courses who want to try to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. 

PSAT/NMSQT Exam Administration: 

Wed, Oct 7th 2026 (SIP 1/2 day) 

from 8:25am to approx 12pm. 

Registration Open: 

Mon Aug 31st to Fri Sept 11th 

in C5 with Mrs. Flanagan

The testing fee is $18, cash or check made out to Dunlap High School, and must be submitted to Mrs. Flanagan in C5 in order to register for the exam.

This exam can be taken by current sophomores as well, however, sophomores cannot qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their results. Sophomores' PSAT/NMSQT scores are merely for practice purposes, similar to the PreACT they will take again in the Spring semester. As the PSAT/NMSQT administration is held during a regular school-day and requires students to miss their DHS classes, it is highly advised that current sophomore students seek alternative practice testing opportunities that will not cause them to miss instruction. Please Note: This exam administration is only open to currently enrolled DHS students who qualify to sit for the PSAT/NMSQT. We cannot accept registration for out-of-district/non-enrolled students due to the technology and access requirements necessary to sit for the exam.
