Students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes at DHS will be offered the opportunity to sit for the AP exam in each class, at a fee per AP exam.  A registration form and testing schedule will be given to students in their AP classes. Students should complete ONE form to register for all AP exams that they are eligable for. For each test, a check needs to be made out to Dunlap High School and submitted to Mrs. Flanagan in the C Hallway or to their school counselor by the deadline given to students.

With qualifying AP Exam scores, students can earn credit, advanced placement or both at many of colleges and university in the United States and Canada.  Students should research their schools of interest to find out if what credit they can receive for their AP exams.  

REMEMBER, the AP Exam is encouraged, but it is NOT mandatory.

Self-Study Policy: 

Dunlap High School will ONLY permit current DHS students to self-study and take an “exam only” AP exam for subjects that we currently offer at DHS, as well as AP Physics C: Mechanics.  Beginning SY2026-2027, Dunlap High School will no longer offer self-study and exam-only testing for other AP subjects that are not currently taught at DHS (such as AP Macro/Microeconomics, AP European History, etc)

Students seeking to self-study for AP exams that are not taught at DHS can should review this list for outside testing opportunities, and then reach out to the other schools directly to see if they would be willing to allow you to test there as an exam-only student.

As an alternative to AP exams, CLEP is another College Board testing option that can potentially earn college credit similar to AP.  Credit policies vary by college, and students are advised to check with any colleges they'ree considering to see how each individual college awards credit for CLEP.
