New Student Information
Take a tour of DHS with us!
Whether you are already in the area, or are moving into the district in the near future, please schedule a meeting with the counselor who would have your student on their caseload. Students are assigned to counselors based on the first letter of their last name (see our Home Page for contact information). Prior to this meeting, please complete the new student registration paperwork provided at this link. Bring this paperwork and a copy of your student's current transcript and/or class schedule to the meeting. This will assist the counselor in preparing a schedule for your student. Also, please provide the counselor with the anticipated start date of your student to ensure we have enough time to prepare a schedule. At the time of your meeting, we will be happy to provide you and your student with a tour of the school.
Before your student can be enrolled into our student database, proof of residency is required.

The quickest way to see your student’s grades is through PowerSchool’s phone app. Once you’ve created your account on a desktop or laptop, you can download the app and monitor your students’ grades that way.
To find the app, search “PowerSchool Mobile” and look for the blue icon.
The District Code is DTGX
How to use Canvas as a Parent:
You will create an “Observer” account on Canvas to view your students’ classes. If you have multiple students, they will all link to the same Observer (parent) account.

The easiest way to navigate Canvas is through the phone app. Once you’ve created your account on a desktop or laptop, you can download the app and monitor your students’ assignments and tests that way.
To find the app, search “Canvas Parent” and look for the blue circle.
The Calendar is the most useful feature in Canvas for parents. It will tell you when your students homework is due, when their test is, and give you other important information about their classes.

It is important to note that while teachers can and do input grades into Canvas, the grades you see here are not your students actual grades. You’ll need a PowerSchool account to see your student’s grades.
