In our UNEP Committee, Ocean acidification explores how global warming and the increase of emissions are impacting the tropical reefs vital to upholding the biodiversity of different fish species, human livelihoods, food security, and flood risks. In this committee, delegates will explore different solutions to combat these problems and discuss ways to prevent coral bleaching from continuing to spread.
Co-Chair
Nanaha Mizoi is a junior at Design Tech High School with 3 years of Model UN experience. She has previously chaired the SOCHUM committee, and is excited to chair her 2nd commitee for UNEP. Outside of MUN, Nanaha enjoys working on art, design, learning about marine biology, and volunteering at the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco. She is looking forward to learning about the different creative ideas that delegates have to help with ocean acidification.
Co-Chair
Myroslava Tymoshenko is a junior and has been part of MUN for 3 years. At this year’s conference, she will be participating in the UNEP committee. What she enjoys most about MUN is talking to people and chairs, meeting new people, presenting speeches, experiencing all the different emotions during conferences, staying at hotels with her team, and learning new things along the way. For this year’s D.MUN, she is looking forward to writing a strong background guide, finding solutions that address the issue of ocean acidification, and, of course, having fun. Outside of MUN, Myroslava is passionate about tech and leadership. She enjoys badminton and music, plays the piano, and has graduated from music school. She also wants to learn how to play pickleball and padel.
