In the US Gerrymandering shapes every aspect of American politics. Gerrymandering has been headline news many times just in the last year alone weather it be the erasure of predominantly black districts caused by the overturning of the voting rights acts, California's proposition 50 that had the goal of flipping numerous Republican held house seats, or the hundreds of other stories such as these that litter American politics. While the word Gerrymandering might be front cover in every newspaper, many Americans still have no idea what it means. Gerrymandering is the act of manipulating the boundaries of electoral districts to give one party an unfair advantage. This Senate committee will be faced with deciding the future of gerrymandering in the US and therefore this committee will decide the future of American democracy.
