When we discuss universities you are expected to research these universities on the internet to learn more about them. You would like to spend the next few years at your chosen university - not your parents or your counsellor. It is in your interest to learn as much as possible about the college culture and campus life.
It is expected that you read your email and don’t miss out on any deadlines communicated earlier. This will help you to stay organised.
Emails from admissions teams will get delivered to your inbox and it’s your responsibility to read, forward and execute pending tasks in time. If you don’t know what to do please forward the email to your counsellor or drop in so that we discuss the needful steps and make sure that they are complete within the deadline.
IELTS (preferred English proficiency test as it is recognised worldwide for university admissions)
Please contact the counselling department for further information.
Please send an email or meet me in school if you would like to schedule an appointment. You should seek an appointment for tasks like college list, essay feedback etc. as this will take time and cannot be discussed in a hurry.
Please be on time for your appointment! Thank You.
Students applying for Art and Design majors/courses need to submit a portfolio. After successful submission of the application you will normally receive an email with further instructions on what and how to submit your portfolio. Please collect evidence of your work at different stages - everything is important from the initial idea to the ready art/design piece. Create videos or picture collages explaining your thought process behind it. US and UK universities have different requirements for portfolios. Make sure you follow the instructions given by the respective university.
The first set of predicted grades are getting generated after your exams at the end of September in grade 12 (IBDP2). These predicted grades are used in case you are applying in the US or Canada at an early deadline, UK for Medicine, Dentistry or University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, and Indian universities in Round 1 like Ashoka, Krea or any other university with an early deadline.
We generate a more accurate set of predicted grades at the beginning of December in grade 12 (IBDP2) that are used to create the initial transcript to be sent to the universities.
Be aware of any tests required for admission to a certain university. With your college list taking shape you should understand what is required to get admitted to these universities. If you have any questions about the different tests and what is required please consult your counsellor.
UCAT The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UK)
LNAT The Law National Aptitude Test (UK)
ESAT, TARA and TMUA Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT), Test of Academic Reasoning For Admissions (TARA) and Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA)
You can find a list of popular summer courses in this document. The document will be updated whenever we get new information on courses.
As you are aware teachers are very busy on normal school days. Please don’t expect them to write a LOR for you in a short period of time. You should start this process very early at the end of grade 11 (IBDP1) so that you can receive a good LOR which will help you in your applications. LORs are generally required for applications in the US.
Submit your application data in time. We cannot send out applications last minute as there is a lot of work involved in getting a successful college application out. Colleges won’t accept applications beyond the communicated deadlines so it is in your best interest to submit everything well ahead of time.
Some countries require the legalisation of your IB Diploma. If you would like to study in Czechia (Czech Republic), Greece, Italy, Portugal, Russian Federation, United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, and a few other countries, then please contact the IB Coordinator and your counsellor.
Extracurricular Activities are very important for medicine and play a big role in your personal statement especially in the UK and will be discussed in interviews as well.
Displaying care work at volunteering and internships (work in old age homes, orphanages, disabled people homes) is very important. You should also do some form of research or a research paper and read medical books and journals. Identify a medical topic and follow articles on research on this topic. Write your Extended Essay in Biology or Chemistry. Try to do an Internship at a hospital, clinic or nursing home. Keep in mind that nursing work is more important than e.g. watching a surgery. You need to develop and show skills like empathy, team management, time management, leadership. You need high grades, your predicted grades should be IB 42, 43 to apply at top UK Medical Schools. Other schools require IB 35 and above. You must prepare for your MMI interview and your UK entrance tests e.g. on Medify website - do ALL sample papers for preparation.
