Austria combines a long tradition in higher education with state-of-the-art research. The Austrian higher education institutions offer an ever-growing number of degree programmes: you can choose between first-class research-based courses at the Austrian universities, world-famous education at the universities of the arts, high-quality practice-oriented degree courses at the universities of applied sciences, sound, up-to-date teacher education and innovative courses at private universities.
Austria accepts the IB Diploma as entry to a bachelor degree programme without specific subject requirements. Studying at public universities like a research university or a university of applied sciences is usually tuition fee free but with a small contribution towards the student guild. Austrian universities offer very few bachelor degree programmes taught in English. You can find an updated list of public and private universities offering English degree courses here (the website is German) https://www.studium.at/studieren/bachelor/englisch and https://studienwahl.at/en

Admission to Austrian higher education is organised by the educational institutions themselves. To be admitted to a higher education programme, you first need to contact the institution that offers the programme. They can inform you of exactly which admission requirements apply to the programme of your choice.
Finalise the application plan to understand your deadlines.
Submit the application well in advance of the deadline. The deadlines are published on the website of the university.
Wait for your admission decision. Usually, you will receive it via email.
