Australia has a range of excellent universities to consider. You are an international student if you are not an Australian or New Zealand citizen (or dual citizen), Australian permanent resident, or Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder. When you research universities you might see an ATAR value on the entry requirements page. The Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) is a number between zero and 99.95 that tells you where you rank in your year group. It’s based on the overall results of an Australian Year 12 qualification, and it can change from year to year. For international students this value will be calculated based on your predicted and final grades. Please also remember to check the pre-requisites for a particular course.
Please note that semester 1 start in February and semester 2 starts in August. Not all universities might have an intake in August so you may loose 6 months after your IB graduation.
Australia accepts the IB Diploma NOT the IB Certificates for university admission. Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR) is calculated for all domestic student applications.
For each university on your college list, open the university website, go to the undergraduate course section and look up the entry requirements and the course modules for the course you are planning to apply for. Verify that you fulfil the criteria to apply for this course with the counsellor.
Gather your documents as stated at the admissions webpage.
Most international students can apply directly to the University. To do so, select the 'Apply now' button on your course page to commence your application, and follow the prompts.
To apply for a bachelor's degree as a domestic student, you will need to apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Make sure you're aware of the UAC application process and key dates.
Some courses require supplementary application forms. These will be listed on the course page, and you will be prompted to upload this during your UAC application.
Monitor your inbox for emails from the different colleges. Some universities might send you the login details for their portal.
Check the university portal, you might need to upload a scanned copy of your passport or financial documentation like a bank statement. If anything is missing, contact the counsellor.
Wait for your admission decision.
