My name is Nasir Muhammad, and I’m a 17‑year‑old student‑athlete at Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been part of the Drew community since the fourth grade, and throughout my time here, I’ve taken on a wide range of academic, athletic, and leadership opportunities. I’ve been involved in Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Basketball, B.O.N.D., Dreamers and Achievers, Peer Leadership, Book Buddies, Beta Club, Spanish National Honor Society, National Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars.
Through these experiences, I discovered that track is my true passion. One of my proudest accomplishments was helping our team win the 2024 state championship title in the 4x100 relay and finishing as state runners‑up with only six athletes. I was also honored to be selected as Drew’s Mr. Green and Gold, representing the face of our athletics program and serving on the homecoming court.
As I prepare for the next chapter of my life, I plan to attend an illustrious HBCU where I can continue growing academically, athletically, and personally.
Drew Charters 25-26 Mr. and Miss Green&Gold!
After I graduate, I plan on attending the largest HBCU in the country, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, to major in Psychology and potentially minor in Sports Administration or Sports Medicine, working toward getting my Master's degree.
My ultimate goal is to become a sports psychologist, with a career that allows me to support athletes and everyday people within society, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. I want to understand how the mind and body work together, and how psychological principles can improve athletic performance and overall well-being.
Mental health is very overlooked and misunderstood, especially among younger people in the world. I want to be the person who helps normalize conversations for the generations to come by listening, educating, and encouraging others. I pray to create an environment where people feel safe and supported rather than judged and misunderstood.
I don't just care about psychology because it's part of the career I pray to attain one day. I care because I've lived through moments that showed me how truly important it is in navigating life
In my future, I plan to go to college on an academic scholarship while still being able to do what I love to do most, which is running track and giving back to my community. Track has always been important to me, and I want to keep the passion I have for the sport alive as I continue my education. After college, I plan to use my degree to start my own holistic health and wellness business where I can create a refuge for those seeking relief from the physical, mental, and emotional stressors of life.
