Shaping Our World
For this project, my group created a skit and short film based on the Qin Dynasty in ancient China. We started by researching the civilization using the GRAPES chart, which helped us understand their geography, religion, achievements, politics, economics, and society. Once we had a solid background, we wrote a five-scene script that showed how legalism shaped daily life for families during that time. After finishing the script, we filmed around the school in different locations like the PBL lab and the garden to match the scenes we imagined. Our plot focused on a family dealing with strict legalist rules after a small mistake turns into a major problem. The purpose was to show how harsh laws affected people and how easily minor issues could escalate. We also connected the past to the present by looking at what parts of ancient China still influence society today and by discussing local landmarks that need better preservation. Overall, this project helped me understand how ancient civilizations shaped the world we live in and how storytelling can bring history to life.
The goal was to make a skit based on an ancient civilization. We chose Ancient China during the Qin Dynasty.
I played the role of the older brother who reports his younger sister for overseasoning food, which was considered a crime under Legalism.
Working on this project helped me understand how strict the Qin Dynasty really was, but it also pushed me to be more confident acting in front of people and working with a group to bring a story to life.
In class, my peers and I were assigned to make a vision board of what we envision our future to be by the time we are 35 years old and here's what I put on my board!
