What does it mean to volunteer? Why would Drew require you to volunteer for 100 hours during your high school career?
What does volunteering mean to me? It’s more than just helping the community; it’s about showing up for people who aren’t as fortunate as I am and doing what I can to support their needs. Life can hit people hard, and it takes a toll on their physical, mental, and emotional health. When someone isn’t in a good place, it can lead to serious challenges, and if I can make things even a little better for them, that’s enough for me. To me, every act of service is just one step in the billions and trillions of steps God has planned for my life. At Drew, we’re required to complete 100 hours of community service to graduate. Finishing my hours during my sophomore year is something I’m proud of, but it doesn’t mean I’m done. I don’t see volunteering as a box to check off; I see it as a responsibility and a promise. I plan to keep serving, keep giving back, and keep trying to make my community a better place, not just through senior year, but long after high school as well.
