Polynomial Project:
In my polynomial project I was assigned to chose a picture that can correlate with making a polynomial. I chose a picture of me at one of my track meets because I love running track, and it worked well for modeling a quartic polynomial. The graph fits the shape of my position in the picture all the way to the lowest point near my feet. I used Desmos to create a quartic regression and got the equation: y = -2.6995x^4 + 1.1847x^3 + 14.5063x^2 - 4.7367x - 9.26824
I found key features like the intercepts, maximum and minimum points, and end behavior. The graph didn’t match perfectly at first, so I adjusted the points until it fit just right. This project let me connect math with something I deeply enjoy as well, I love track.
