On this Monday in December, I volunteered to play piano for the duration of the PTA meeting. I played for sometime around two and a half hours for the crowd of parents and students at the meeting. Honestly, I love playing for others and just having a good time. At some point, a little girl from the elementary school gave me a tip jar. While it wasn't my intention from the beginning, I was happy seeing all the generous tips. It was nice playing for others and it gave me some much-wanted experience. Overall, it was a great opportunity that I enjoyed along with everyone listening.
This was our school's Fine Arts Fair where all the fine arts at our school come together for a fair/small festival. There are students selling their art, performances, and awards. I performed St. James Infirmary Blues with two of my friends, Morgan Walker, and D'Angelo (Dan) Taylor, and the band teacher. Morgan sang and played guitar while I was on piano, Dan on Bass, and Mr. Spencer, the band teacher, on tuba. It was a great time and with jazz improv solos from both me and Morgan, the final performance was great.
For this I played as the accompanist for a friend of mine Niles Holt at his Orchestra Concert. He was planning to do a solo of Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" when he reached out to me to be his accompanist. It was tricky considering we only started practicing together just two days before the performance, however in the end he played great and we all had a fun time playing for the crowd.
