Using scrap wood from the art classroom, I created this piece with a focus on warm colors. The purpose of this project was to show the relationships between the shapes of the wood with each other. Certain sides of the wood line up with wood that also has similar sides. The yellow circles lead to the places that also have circle because I wanted there to be a direct connection between the colors that I used.
This door was previously covered with materials from the year before and we re-purposed it according to what we wanted it to look like. The door had to be sanded smooth and primed before the first layer of paint could go on. In this piece, I have connected the sides through the use of mountains as one of the main subjects. The mountains on the left are seen in the winter of the tundra, while also having the northern lights in the background. The door on the right contrast the one on the left with its warm colors and the not so obvious mountains over the horizon.
