I believe that the word "volunteer" means to willingly do something that benefits others without being forced or paid to do it. At my high school Drew Charter, we are required to volunteer for 100 hours in order to graduate. I think that Drew has us do this because it shows us that we can actually make a difference with what we do. For example, after school me and some other theater tech crew members would volunteer to build sets and work backstage for various Arts performances. In 10th grade, I tried other service projects. I sold food to benefit the East Lake Neighborhood and the Asian American Voices for Education. With Beta Club I sorted food at the Atlanta Food Bank. Each MLK day I work on a project at the Urban Forrest right near my house.
