ChemVAS Typography Artist Statement August 26, 2024
For this art project I had to create a digital image of the word "ChemVAS" by digitally collaging and/or digitally painting and drawing. A new tool that I learned about was the way to add in those cool pink electric lines in the image that I made. I think that my work looks creative and interesting because I used a lot of different shapes, color, lines, and movement. I liked that the assignment involved a lot of thinking and solving because it took me some time to put it all together. I believe that I could use these tools in the future with other art and experiments.
Its Elementary September 13, 2024
In this project I used STEAM subjects by drawing and using different colors and shapes. From this project I learned about the element given to me which was lead. I was creative with figuring out where the element would fit in and with the background. My artwork is very colorful and is set in a dessert with a western cowboy look to it. I added a cowboy gun shop where there are bullets with lead. The principles of design used in my artwork that are important is color, shapes, and perspective. I used color to make the art pop out, I used shapes to make it more interesting and not so blank, and I used perspective to make it more real.
Mandala Research October 27, 2024
For this assignment we were put into groups and had to research about mandalas. My two group members for this assignment were Grant Packwood and Caliyah Dalton. Healing mandalas originated in India, Tibet, China, and other countries that practice Hinduism and Buddhism. The repetitive patterns of a mandala are meant to help the viewer relax and enter a state of meditation. We've since seen the geometric design appear in yoga studios. Mandalas have been used for thousands of years and have been used for healing since Carl Jung first used them in therapy in the 20th century. The principles of design that I can see are symmetry, repetition, contrasting shapes, colors, and patterns.
Food for Thought November 29, 2024
In this project I worked with Ayman El-Amin and Derek Thompson. The goal of this project was to create a ceramic related to the Columbian exchange. My assignments for my other classes were related to this project because they involved working with food. For this art project I made a ceramic trade ship. I decided what to make by getting ideas from google and I thought that a ship would be a cool challenge. My techniques and process for making the ship started by cutting the floor of the ship with a clay knife tool and then added walls and the rest just slowly came together. My work is related to Columbian exchange because ships were used for trading goods then. What worked best for me in this project was putting the ship all together. If I had more time, I would've made the bottom of the ship more round and not flat.
Artistic Idol Independent Project May 22, 2025
For the final project of this class, we had to research a famous artist that we liked and create an art piece inspired by them. I chose the artist Salvador Dali. I chose him because his art was very interesting and I enjoyed learning a lot about surrealism art.
