DPS Lava celebrated the Vidyarambh Sanskar for the tiny tots of Nursery on Monday the 19th of June 2023. Vidyarambh is a sanskar that introduces young children to the world of knowledge, letters, and the process of learning.
The celebration began with a prayer. The Chief Guest, Dr Nidhi Nashine, and the Principal, Ms Anupama Sagdeo lighted the auspicious lamp. The school reverberated with the musical notes of Ganesh Stuti and Saraswati Stavan.
The parents guided their wards to write the ‘bijakshar’ on a slate and embark on a lifelong journey of learning.

In her address, Principal Ms Anupuma Sagdeo shared some valuable tips with the parents; tips that will help parents, make the transition from home to school smooth and reduce stress and separation anxiety. Children will enjoy coming to school and learning will happen.
The Chief Guest, Dr Nidhi Nashine, graced the event and blessed the young ones. She mentioned that 95% of emotional, psychological, cognitive and social development happens by the age of 6 and so parents need to be mindful while dealing with their children in day-to-day life.
On this day, the little ones and their parents participated in various engaging activities like palm printing, colouring, tattoo art, earbud painting, car racing, ringing the cone and hitting the glass with zest.
The Vidyarambh Sanskar marked not just the beginning of a new school year, but also new experiences and new horizons.
"Everybody Needs a Good Buddy"
Students of Grade IX welcomed the tiny tots on their first day of school. They became their buddies, played with them, interacted with them and made them comfortable. This was the first time for them and proved to be an enriching experience.
Grade IX Students had made toys to welcome the nursery children. Children who were crying initially were seen happily interacting and doing activities with their new buddies. For the older children, the experience was a lesson in empathy, and responsibility - crucial social and emotional skills.
Buddy programmes are an effective way to help encourage a positive, sibling-like relationship between students to instil social and emotional learning. The younger buddies no doubt benefit the most from this programme; the older students also show remarkable growth through the experience.
In the days that followed, most little ones walked into the school building happily.
