Equality Club Launched
The launch of the Equality Club at DPS Lava, in collaboration with YLAC - Youth Leaders for Active Citizenship, demonstrates a commitment to addressing inequality and empowering students to take action. By providing spaces for rich discussions and experiential lessons, the club aims to raise consciousness, foster empathy, and inspire students to make a positive impact on society.
The experiential learning approach adopted by the club is an effective way to engage students in exploring challenging societal problems. By actively participating in activities and experiences related to inequality, students can gain a deeper understanding of the issues at hand. This approach also helps break stereotypes and encourages students to critically analyze societal norms.
Principal Ms Anupama Sagdeo recognized the efforts of the students and teacher facilitators who made the club engaging and facilitated a wonderful learning experience in the previous year.
The appointment of new members of the student government of the Equality Club, led by President Madhura Dabarkar, Vice President Shauryavardan Dwivedi, and Secretary Arya Yadav, shows a commitment to shared leadership and student involvement in driving the club's activities forward. Students at DPS Lava are taking on leadership roles and being entrusted with the responsibility of promoting equality and social justice.
The event was conducted by the outgoing School Government President and Vice President, Kaant Deshpande and Manya Bhandari, respectively. This signifies a smooth transition and the passing on of knowledge and experiences from one cohort to the next and will help maintain the club's momentum and ensure that the new student government members receive guidance and support.
The Equality Club at DPS Lava is an inspiring and empowering platform for students to learn, discuss, and take action against inequality. By nurturing empathy, understanding privilege, and equipping students with leadership skills, the club has the potential to make a positive impact not only within the school but also in the wider community.
