Dear Parents,
Greetings to you!
“The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance. The next year, the next day, the next hour is lying ready for you, as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life. You can turn over a new leaf, every hour if you choose.” ― Arnold Bennett
Our school was adjudged the Best CBSE school at Times Business and Leadership Awards. The award was presented to us in a glittering ceremony. What a beginning to a new academic session! This award is evidence of Pro-VC Sir’s vision, unwavering dedication, passion, and tireless efforts of every staff member. Behind this award lies countless hours of planning, engaging lessons, late nights spent correcting and grading papers and a staunch belief in the potential of every child who walks through our doors.
The Grade X results of the batch of 2022-23 proved yet again that DPS Lava stands at the pinnacle of excellence with a 100% result. The overall school average aggregate is 81.21%. The students got 165 distinctions in all and 13 students have an aggregate of more than 90%!
The result of this second batch revealed that learning never stops at DPS Lava. Our students have passed the first public exam of their life with flying colours and the credit goes to the consistent and constant effort of the students, the teachers and the parents.
When our students were away enjoying their summer vacation, teachers engaged in training. The training sessions were organised in the school so that teachers could improve their craft. We had experts from education, medicine and technology who imparted training and shared their knowledge. The teachers got the classrooms ready, made annual plans and lesson plans and are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of their students.
Building relationships lie at the core of the school’s vision; relationships among the students, between the teachers and students, the school and parents and their relationship with the community at large. To foster healthy relationships, we have begun Sama-Urja, a classroom activity aimed at strengthening these relationships. Every day, after the school assembly, the teachers and students will start their day with Sama-Urja. Our day began with Sama-Urja during the training & orientation sessions in May and June.
Buddy interaction is another endeavour aimed at building relationships. The new students get a buddy in their class to ease them into the school system. We are also looking at building relationships across the grades. Each child of an older Grade will get a buddy from a lower Grade. Each month they will get a specific time to interact during the CCA periods. The children will engage in some activity or a conversation. The class teachers will facilitate this by sensitising the students about the session. During the buddy interaction, teachers will be around as observers without intrusion. The younger students will learn a lot from the older ones and it is also an opportunity for the older ones to learn from the younger buddies.
Our school has been promoting sports through the SA right from its inception. We have taken it a notch higher by launching a badminton academy. A brand-new badminton court has been set up in the MF Hall. Students can utilise this facility to train from a good coach. There are a few more initiatives in the pipeline. I will keep you posted as and when we start the academies for other sports.
We begin this new academic year with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. We will continue to foster an environment where knowledge thrives, talents blossom and dreams take flight.
With warm regards
Anupama Sagdeo
