Appliances in Classrooms

Per the Denver Fire Department requirements and due to the available electrical capacity at schools, for the safety of our students and staff all appliances must be removed from classrooms and only used in designated teachers lounges.

Appliances include, but are not limited to, coffee makers, microwaves, refrigerators, personal heaters, toaster ovens, toasters, hot plates and crock pots.

These appliances can overload electrical systems creating a potential fire hazard and have been deemed unsafe by the Denver Fire Department.

Appliances must be located in teacher lounges or kitchen areas where they will be provided with a dedicated electrical circuit designed for that specific appliance.
