This work, titled ‘Tupac: the last thirty minutes’ narrates the last half an hour of hip hop artist Tupac’s life.
Tupac was a legendary rap musician who was murdered in 1994. His death remains unsolved to this day. Using Adobe Illustrator and influenced by Pop Artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol as well as comic artist Stan Lee, I used the comic format to convey the storyline. This comic format of framed drawings, speech bubbles, bright colours and black outlines, reflects the limelight of popular culture in which Tupac lived his life.
As the title suggests 'Tupac: the last 30 minutes' recognises that we never know when our time is up. The last 30 minutes of Tupac's life were filled with drama from different directions. This drama was typical of his talented and successful life which most likely led to his death.
