As the title suggests my film 'Alonely' highlights feelings of isolation that often arise during challenging times. The film narrates a Year 12 student during Covid as she battles the ‘lockdown mindset’. In her day to day life feelings of ‘aloneliness’ arise, feeling trapped, disconnected and isolated from others. She becomes gradually consumed by these emotions, entering this dark place where her biggest insecurities like her social life, school work and being away from the people she loves, overwhelm her. But by following a moment of hope when looking at photos of family and friends she learns the truth of this mindset.
This is a personal struggle that many of us have endured during this stressful time, with many of us slowly losing hope, unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel, bit by bit giving in to fear. My film shows that we all have a choice to which voice we tune into. Fortunately the character chose to listen to the hope filled, life giving voice that we are never alone! We can too!
