Donegal ETB offers free and private one-to-one counselling for all students.
We know that life can be tough sometimes. Personal problems can make it hard to focus on your course — and might even make you think about leaving. That’s why we’re here to help.
Counselling gives you a safe space to talk about what’s going on and get support. Many students have used this service and were able to stay in their course, finish it, and move on to more learning or work.
Some reasons students come to counselling include:
School or exam stress
Alcohol or drug problems
Feeling low or anxious
Family or relationship issues
Grief or loss
Eating problems
Questions about identity or coming out
Whatever you're going through, you're not alone — support is here for you.
Talking to a counsellor can really help when things feel tough — whether it’s something personal or school-related.
Counselling gives you a safe space to talk about what’s going on. It can help you:
See things in a new way
Deal with a crisis
Learn healthy ways to cope with stress or problems
Sometimes it can be hard to talk about your feelings, but over time, counselling can help you feel stronger and more able to handle challenges — now and in the future.
If you’d like to talk to someone in private, we’re here for you.
Just get in touch and we’ll set up a first meeting with a counsellor. This can be:
In person
Online
Or over the phone
After that first chat, you can decide if counselling feels right for you. The counsellor can also help you find other supports if needed.
You don’t have to go through things alone — support is here when you need it.
If you want to know more or would like to book a counselling appointment, contact the Adult Guidance and Information Service.
