Donegal ETB policy covering all aspects of your assessments has been UPDATED. Click the link for a handy summary of this policy.
Donegal ETB has set up Digital Hubs in many of our Further Education and Training (FET) centres. These are special spaces where you can go to learn and get support using technology.
The hubs are here to help everyone, especially if you don’t have internet or devices at home.
You must book a space in the hub to get help from a staff member. This could be:
Getting online to do research or homework
Learning how to use your email
Printing an assignment

Donegal ETB offers software and tools to help students with learning. If you have a disability or need extra support, there are special technologies available for you.
Here are some examples:
Immersive Reader: This tool helps students with dyslexia by reading text out loud. It’s available on laptops and PCs.
C-Pens: These are smart pens that read printed text and speak it out loud. They’re great for students who have trouble reading, especially in exams or study time.
Screen-reading software: This helps students with visual impairments by reading what’s on the screen.
Depending on your needs, different supports are available in our centres. If you’re not sure what’s right for you, talk to your educator or coordinator — they’re here to help. They will guide you in the right direction.
Microsoft 365 includes built-in tools to make learning easier:
• Immersive Reader – reads text aloud and highlights words
• Dictation – turns speech into text
• Translate – helps with different languages
• High Contrast / Zoom – improves visibility
💡 You can find these tools in Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Donegal ETB has a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. This means you’ll be allowed to use your own laptop, tablet, or other device during your course if you prefer.
If you don’t have a device, don’t worry — we also have a Device Loan Scheme where you can borrow one. You can learn more about that on this page.
All of our FET centres are equipped with the most current broadband and have Wi-Fi access available for students.
