The Class Progress tool provides lecturers with a high level view of student performance across the entire class, providing four indicators of performance all at the lecturer’s fingertips. It helps to surface predictive practices and preventing student disengagement a priority.
The Module Overview widget is a handy dashboard to view data about your module and your students. When you navigate to your module homepage, the widget is usually to be found on the right-hand-side and above announcements. It displays a visualization of weekly course access and provides various reports on engagement, module access and tool usage.
If you navigate to Content > Table of Contents > Related tools > View Reports, you will be able to see a list of content topics and the number of users who have viewed that topic. The reports track the activity on a topic and individuals’ progress in meeting objectives and defined interactions with the module content.
How valuable would it be to have predictive practices in place so that you can access early warning about students who may be getting off track? You may want to use the class progress tool to
Monitor progress for any or all users in your module and prepare progress reports;
View user profiles, email users, or instant message users;
Track when a user accesses the module and downloads module content;
Track grades, completion of learning outcomes, access to content topics, participation in discussions, assignment submissions, quiz submissions, checklist completions and logins;
Set up intelligent Agents for learners who are falling behind in a module;
View feedback and submissions for assignments, discussions.
On the other hand, the module overview widget offers the following insights
the number of unique visits to your module on a given day;
a dashboard that provides information on module access and grade distributions;
a filterable and exportable chart that allows you to track module access trends;
dashboard that allows you to see how learners are engaging with different Brightspace tools;
Many lecturers put a great effort into designing content in their courses. But students glance over content, not viewing a video from start to finish, or downloading it thinking they will view it later. On the other hand, students may visit your content items multiple times, view videos in their entirety, and greatly benefit from your materials. In Brightspace, lecturers can view content statistics, including:-
Users who have visited content and average time spent on content;
Total content views for each student and user specific details of viewed content items;
Number of users who visited a specific content item and average time spent viewing;
Each student’s visit to a content item, last visit date, number of visits and time spent.
The statistical information provides by this tools can give you an understanding of how valuable module materials are to their students.
The Module Overview widget widget displays aggregate information on student engagement with you module and links to module-specific Brightspace reports.
