Learner-informed knowledge is a prerequisite for integrating technology in an inclusive way so that students from all communities can effectively use it to achieve their goals.
Accessibility for Marginalized Communities and Students:
Systems and Processes: We ensure accessibility for marginalized communities and students through targeted surveys several times a year. These surveys, including Cognia Survey Responses, Climate Survey Responses, and informal surveys, gather data and insights to understand the unique needs of different groups, such as socioeconomic status, race, ELL, IEP, sexual orientation, physical ability, nationality, and other distinctions.
Student Voice and Choice in Technology Use:
Monthly EESAC Meetings, Parent Academies, and Open Door Policies: We promote student voice and choice through regular forums like EESAC Meetings, Parent Academies, and Open Door Policies. These platforms allow students, parents, faculty, and stakeholders to express concerns, needs, and ideas in person.
Student-Led Technology Demonstrations: Students are given voice and choice in demonstrating how they leverage technology for learning. Periodic events showcase student-led technology projects and innovations, allowing them to share their experiences and insights with the school community.
Promoting Diversity and Inclusion:
VILS Coach Availability: Our VILS Coach remains available via phone, email, and in-person to address technology support needs and questions from the community. This service is extended to students, parents, and faculty, promoting inclusivity and equal access to technology resources.
Continuous Surveys: Regular surveys involving all stakeholders, including students, families, parents, and faculty, are conducted to gather data and insights into the community's needs. These surveys, along with the mentioned meetings and open-door policies, contribute to an ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in our school community.
