Payroll

The current rate of pay for guest teachers is $185.00 per day on a day-to-day basis, $210.00 per day for a long-term assignment of more than ten consecutive days in the same assignment, and $225.00 per day for residential guest teachers. Long-term pay is effective on the 11th day of an assignment and is retroactive to day one. A maximum of three absences are allowed during a long-term assignment without affecting the long-term rate of pay. If more than three days are used, the rate of pay will change to the day-to-day rate until the 11th day of the assignment.

Guest teachers are to fill out a Certificated Time Sheet (see below) for each monthly payroll period. All assignment days for the period should be included. A Payroll Schedule may be obtained from Personnel Services. Guest Teachers are paid for a seven hour, ten minute work day. They do not automatically receive a "prep period" as they may be needed, as a member of the team, to complete some other necessary task or cover another teacher. This is considered part of the seven hour, ten minute guest teacher's assignment. However, if a guest teacher covers an additional entire class period during the preparation time of another regular teacher, the guest teacher will receive an additional 1/7th of the daily rate for guest teachers for the said period. If a class is dispersed to provide coverage, guest teachers receiving the additional students shall receive a prorated portion of the substitute pay. Percentage is determined by the number of additional students received.

The principal (or his/her designee) must verify the time worked and sign each day's assignment. It is the responsibility of the guest teacher to turn in his/her time sheet to the District Payroll Department by the payroll deadline. The interoffice mail system may be used for this purpose. Payroll checks can be mailed to your home or deposited directly into your banking account.
