Completing an Assignment

Guest teachers are REQUIRED to work the same duty hours at each assignment as a regular classroom teacher. If the classroom assignment is completed but duty hours are not, guest teachers need to check-in with the principal for an additional work assignment in order to complete the duty hours. Guest teachers are not allowed to leave an assignment early.

It is essential to leave a note for the regular teacher summarizing the day. Let them know what you did and did not complete and why. When reporting behavioral problems, keep your words factual and as neutral as possible.

Before leaving the classroom for the day, make sure everything is clean and straightened- left as neatly as you can to the way you found it. Be sure you leave any notes from parents or other items in an area to be seen by the teacher. Return all keys and material to the front office. Keys must be returned by the guest teacher. Never have a student deliver the keys for you. Do not give keys to students for any reason. Be sure to sign out and have your timesheet signed. If, in error, you forget to leave the keys, call the school and make arrangements to return them as quickly as possible.

Thank the staff members for their help and the opportunity to be part of their team.

Go home and be good to yourself. Do something to rest, revitalize and reward yourself. Give yourself credit for all the good things that happened. Use them again. This can lead to really having an enjoyable experience every time you enter the classroom.

Good luck and enjoy each day as it comes!!!
