Guest Teacher Evaluations

The Basics

While on an assignment, the guest teacher is directly responsible to the site principal. Guest teachers can be evaluated by the principal and the regular teacher, for exceptional or unsatisfactory performance, at the completion of any assignment. Evaluations can also be requested by Personnel Services. A copy of any such evaluation will se sent to the guest teacher and a copy placed in his/her personnel file. In the event of an unsatisfactory evaluation by the principal, the guest teacher may be contacted by the principal to come in for a conference. The guest teacher may also request a conference with the principal. The request by the guest teacher must be made in writing directly to the site administration.

Follow-up

Whenever possible, the principal should discuss such service with the guest teacher, and then file the written report of the situation with Personnel Services. The guest teacher has 10 days in which to respond in writing to the evaluation. SERIOUS misconduct is to be reported IMMEDIATELY to the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services and/or Director of Certificated Personnel for appropriate action.

Suspension/ Removal

Three negative evaluations may result in suspension or removal from the guest teacher list unless the matter can be resolved to the satisfaction of the Assistant Superintendent and/or Director of Certificated Personnel for appropriate action, who reserves the right to make the final decision regarding recommendations of future employment. SERIOUS misconduct (for example, but not limited to, any behavior on the part of the guest teacher which endangers students) may result in immediate suspension.
