WELCOME TO DESERT SANDS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

Congratulations on joining the Desert Sands Unified School District Guest Teacher Program. We are very pleased that you have chosen to become a part of the Desert Sands School District. Our principals, teachers, office staff, administrators, students and parents value our high quality, well-prepared staff of guest teachers.

Guest teacher assignments are uniquely challenging. It is important for guest teachers to:

Have a positive attitude.
Be enthusiastic.
Be dependable.
Be flexible.
Know the policies and procedures used by Desert Sands USD.
Be prepared.

Applicants that meet these guidelines will be placed on the Desert Sands active call list, which will allow you opportunities to substitute for the district. Guest teachers hold the same responsibilities of regular classroom teachers. Guest teachers are expected to:

Be prompt.
Engage the students in the content.
Follow the lesson plans and curriculum set by the teacher.
Fulfill all teacher responsibilities.
Observe school procedures relative to grading, discipline, and safety.
Maintain professional standards.
Adhere to working hours.
Notify the principal or front office if assistance is needed.
